Report

After a few discussions online, we decided to have a get together this weekend, and to have a trip to Chicago to go to the LEGO store in Chicago. A few of our members had to work and go to school and the like, so we had a few missing members at this meeting. After having a slight miscommunication in regards to Tony coming down, and after Tony getting lost on the way down again, we got everyone here to start the meeting.

After the meeting wrapped up, we decided to get going to Chicago, and we left here around 3:00PM. Tony, Nick, Stefan, Andrew, and myself piled into the Tahoe and took off. Andrew hooked up his MiniDisc player using the tape adapter, and listened to some interesting music, as we followed the directions from Woodfield's Mall website, and ran into some trouble as we approached Chicago. There was a huge traffic jam on 90, and it took us forever to get out of it. We heard later that there was a protest going on in downtown Chicago, which might have contributed to this. Thanks a lot!

We finally managed to get off on the exit that the map told us to, and it did not seem to match, so we stopped at a gas station to ask for directions, and finally got pointed the right way. We found Woodfield Mall and got a parking spot, and headed off for the LEGO store. We found it after a short while, Woodfield is a huge mall, and we found a directory, and we were close! We turned the corner and there it was!

We saw that they changed the store since the last time I was there, since Pick a Brick was in the back. We saw Tim Courtney there, and introduced ourselves, and had a nice chat, and we started packing cups. I decided to buy each member that came one large cup, to help for the club, so we all ended up buying 23 cups, 11 for me, 6 for Tony, 1 for Stefan and Andrew, and I bought 4 additional ones for each member. We were there for a long time, and we finally left at 8:30 or 9:00PM. You can see the pictures here of us leaving. Andrew and Stefan looked at the Apple store, and we headed for home.

Unfortunately, we forgot how we came in, and we went the wrong way, and we drove around for about 20 minutes, until we headed back to the mall and figured out where we were. We got back on 90 and headed for home. We did see the exit for 294, and I asked Tony to check, and we did see it intersected with 80/90, so we took that instead, and I did remember that was the highway I took in December. We stopped at McDonalds somewhere on the way back, and I almost blew through a stop light with a police officer in the other lane, but Tony helped me there. We got back to Michiana about 11:30PM, and I dropped Stefan and Andrew off at Stefan's aunts house, and went home. It was a long afternoon!

On Sunday, since most of the people were still here, we decided to help sort some of Scott's stuff, so we set up some tables and started sorting. We ordered some pizza eventually, and we got a lot of stuff sorted, and stopped about 3:00PM, to play some Halo, and to get people home. Everyone left around 4:30PM, and I prepared for Lynn to come home, since she had to work this weekend.
