Report
Another early morning show, oh joy. After waking up at 5:45, we headed out for the Elk Lodge. Scott, Lynn, Tony and Chad had already arrived and had just finished unloading. Scott and Lynn were outside locking up the trailer, and Tony and Chad were inside setting up tables. The layout was located up on the stage, with nice cozy lighting and carpeting. A welcome change from most shows. We proceeded with finishing up the layout while Lynn went home and Victoria made a donut run, fleeing Tony's "Krispy Kreme Song." We finished setting up as the public slowly started in. Shortly thereafter Chad went off to church with the family. I discovered I had forgotten my camera back in Michigan, so I got to play with Scott's new camera. Shiny.
At 12, after several hours of Tony's whining, Mom volunteered to make a burger run to McDonald's. After taking down orders she departed. Within an hour she returned, needing a box as usual for all our food. We dove in and started chowing down. As we were eating 2 guests came by, a father and son. Matthew, the son, showed us a steam engine he had built. It was actually very nice, and Scott asked him if he wanted to run it on the layout. He did of course, and so for a good half hour we let it trundle around. Matthew demonstrated a masterful knowleadge of prototype practices and attention to detail with such things as a drop down coupler on the pilot.
Eventually they left, and the rest of the day passed largely without incident as Tony tinkered with wires and the rest of us sat down to chat. Before we knew it, it was time to tear down and go home. As before, having an event so close to our home territory was immensely enjoyable for us all, and we look forward to our next show with the St. Joe Valley Railroad Club!
Thanks
SJVRR - for hosting us at their show.
